We are celebrating by saying thank you to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for giving us the honor to be a small part of their purpose.
Long Story Short:
In 1983 when God brought us to Orlando, Florida, we learned of a two-year-old boy who had Leukemia and was being sent home to die because he needed a bone marrow transplant. The parents weren't able to afford to pay. They had already lost their home and were barely able to keep their business afloat. This situation was completely new to us, so we did what we could. We started fundraising and advocating for the child.
The result was, the hospital decided to take him back and he is healthy with a family of his own today.
Dr. John Graham Pole, head of the bone marrow unit at Shands, said he had five more children who needed help. Would we be interested?
We knew we couldn't turn our backs on these children. Compassion Children's Foundation was born, a 501c(3) charity.

Dr. John Graham-Pole is a retired professor of pediatrics and affiliate professor of clinical and health psychology at the University of Florida. He has been a clinician, teacher and researcher for over 25 years in the field of childhood cancer.
In 1991 he co-founded Arts in Medicine (AIM) at the University of Florida, arguably the nation’s leading university hospital arts program. As well as over 120 scientific publications

Through Compassion God gave us the privilege to advocate for many families with seriously ill children for 25 years, praying for each child that God would show us the way to help them. Each child different and precious needing to be saved. The greatest enemy being time. We always felt we were trying to beat the clock to get these children in for their treatments on time. This was crucial. They only have a short window of time for the treatments to be effective. God never failed us. At times we were amazed at what was accomplished just by praying and obeying.
Looking back we wonder why God trusted us with such precious lives. He seemed to train us as we went along. Remember, we had no training for any of this. However, when you say "yes" to Him, be prepared to be amazed!
The pictures below were taken at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Tony was Santa. My Mom to his left was a volunteer. We let the kids and parents choose presents and we wrapped them. Even Laureen's mom in Santa's hat came along to help.
Moving to North Carolina, thinking we were retiring, God had other plans; He transitioned Compassion to Living With Victory Ministries, Inc.
Again, step by step, praying for His Guidance and Wisdom. "What would you have us to do now, Lord?" His answer, "Tell them Who I Am."
Our purpose now is telling everyone we can Who Jesus is and what He has done for us on the cross and the immeasurable love that held Him there for all of us. We want to give Hope and Encouragement and let everyone know that He is a Living God that can be trusted!
We are transparent in our messages; including the dumb mistakes we made throughout our lives and how God patiently brought us through to the other side, teaching us to trust Him no matter how hopeless the circumstances may look.
He will never leave you in your failures if you include Him in your decisions. He does order our steps and we are very grateful for that.
