Fuel for Life Outreach supplies Gas Gift Cards to working families with seriously ill children who have difficulty, as outpatient, receiving their treatments due to the number of times a week they have to return to the hospital for treatment and the high cost of gas. We work with social workers at East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Florida, University of Pittsburgh's Children's Hospital in Pennsylvania, Mission Children's Hospital in Asheville and, now, have added the Rathbun House in Asheville North Carolina. The Rathbun House gives 35 families, who live out of state or too far from the hospital, a place to stay while their loved one is receiving treatment. The patients are children, veterans who attend the VA Medical Center and Patients too ill needing Care Partners Rehabilitation Hospital. Due to COVID-19, we have expanded the transportation assistance to the working and unemployed who cannot qualify for transportation assistance. This program functions solely through donations.
